[THE INVESTOR] BMW and Mercedes-Benz will recall more than 9,000 vehicles in Korea for faulty parts, the Transport Ministry said on Nov. 23.

This is the latest in a series of recall orders issued by the ministry to both domestic and foreign carmakers.

The German carmakers plan to recall 20 different models totaling 9,543 units. The models include BMW’s X5 3.0d SUV and Mercedes-Benz’s B200d and E220d models, the ministry said in a statement.

The problems are excessive pressure in air bag inflators in 15 BMW models and faulty rear-seat safety belts and overheating in current limiters in five Mercedes-Benz models, the statement said.

Starting Nov. 24, vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to replace the parts free of charge, it said.
