[THE INVESTOR] Foreigners living in Korea can file a complaint with the nation’s regulator about financial transactions in 14 languages, the Financial Supervisory Service said on Jan. 2.

If a foreign resident is not satisfied with financial products or services provided, he or she should contact the FSS’ call center at 1332.

When a foreigner files a complaint about financial products or services in one of the 14 languages, the regulator will try to resolve the matter after translating it into Korean.

The FSS will also respond to the foreigner by a set date in the language the foreigner used, according to officials.

The 14 languages are Bengali, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, English, Indonesian, Japanese, Mongolian, Nepalese, Russian, Sinhala, Uzbek, Thai and Vietnamese.

The service is aimed at improving foreign consumers’ rights and helping them in addressing their complaints about financial products and services in Korea, the FSS said.
