[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor’s Ioniq Electric car has been selected the 2018 Best Car of Year in Chile, beating Toyota Motor’s Prius and BMW’s i8, the company said on Jan. 12.

Some 20 Chilean media companies voted to select the best car, in terms of design, performance and stability, after reviewing vehicles launched in the local market in 2017, a Hyundai Motor spokesman said.

In 12 sub-categories, they selected the 12 best models.

Hyundai‘s Ioniq Electric was selected the Best Ecological Car, he said.  

From January-November, Hyundai sold 29,566 vehicles in Chile, accounting for 9.1 percent of the local passenger vehicle market.
