[THE INVESTOR] Shilla Duty Free said on Jan.14 that with the opening of its second store at Incheon Airport on Thursday, it will have cosmetics and perfume operations at all passenger terminals in Asia’s three-largest airports.

Shilla Duty Free -- a part of Hotel Shilla and one of Korea’s leading duty-free operators -- will now have shops at Incheon International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport and the Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong. The duty free operator expects overseas operations to soon exceed 1 trillion won ($939 million).

Cosmetics and perfume are considered key duty-free items, as they generate strong revenue. At Incheon Airport’s duty-free shops, cosmetics and perfume account for 38 percent of all sales.

Shilla Duty Free already runs a store at Incheon’s first terminal that opened in 2001.

Regarding its latest store at Incheon Airport, the company said it analyzed passenger traffic movement and waiting times, and made the store future-oriented and customer friendly.

The store covers 2,100 square meters and will offer products from 110 brands, such as Estee Lauder, Dior, Lancome, Chanel, SK-II and Sulwhasoo. The store will feature a “digital beauty bar” that makes use of light-emitting diodes and information and communication technology, and a “beauty mirror” that uses virtual reality technology.
