[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor has unveiled the fully revamped Veloster hatchback and the high-performance Veloster N model at the Detroit motor show, the company said on Jan. 16.

The launch of the quirky three-passenger-door coupe comes as the carmaker actively promotes its new electric, semi-autonomous and high-performance models at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, also known as the North American International Auto Show, which launched over the weekend and runs through Jan. 28.

Hyundai plans to launch the all-new Veloster with 1.6 turbo gasoline and 2.0 gasoline engine models in the United States in mid-2018. The high-performance Veloster N versions will be available in the world‘s most important automobile market at the end of this year, the company said in a statement.

In the domestic market, the new Veloster hatchback will be introduced with 1.4 turbo and 1.6 turbo gasoline engines later this month or early next month, a company spokesman said, adding that the company does not have an immediate plan to launch the N-badged model domestically.

Also on display in Detroit are the Kona subcompact SUV, the Ioniq hybrid electric vehicle and the Sonata plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the company said in a statement.
