[THE INVESTOR] Four carmakers will voluntarily recall over 53,000 vehicles in Korea due to faulty parts, the Transport Ministry said on Feb. 22.
This is the latest in a series of recall measures being undertaken by both domestic and foreign carmakers to ensure their vehicles meet current safety rules.
The four carmakers -- Hyundai Motor, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota Motor and Honda Motor -- plan to recall 42 different models, totaling 53,719 vehicles, the ministry said in a statement.
The models include Hyundai Motor’s Santa Fe SUV, Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level C200 sedan, Toyota Motor’s Sienna minivan and Honda Motor’s Crosstour crossover, it said.
The problems include a faulty steering wheel assembly in the Hyundai Santa Fe, malfunctioning air bags in Mercedes-Benz’s C200 and a faulty airbag inflator in Toyota’s Sienna, the statement said.
Vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to have the parts replaced free of charge, it said.
