[THE INVESTOR] KT&G announced on March 8 that it sold over 20,000 units of its heat-not-burn device Lil since its launch on Nov. 20 last year.

The company said the device gained popularity for its light weight of less than 100g, and the fact that it can power up to 20 cigarette sticks after a full charge. Other HNB devices, such as IQOS from Philip Morris, have to be charged after one stick.

The flavor of Fiit, a tobacco product exclusively designed for Lil, which is said to closely resemble that of conventional cigarettes, is another reason behind the sales growth, the company said.

“It has only been around 100 days since we launched Lil and it is already doing well in Seoul.” a KT&G spokesperson told The Investor. “So, we are currently trying to sell in other parts of the country as soon as possible.

Lil and Fiit are currently sold at over 7,700 convenience stores including GS25, CU and Emart24.
