[THE INVESTOR] The number of Samsung Electronics employees increased by 6,584 to 99,784 in Korea last year -- the first increase in three years after the figure hit almost 100,000 back in 2014, according to its regulatory filing on April 2.

Female workers made up 27 percent of the total. Their working years were 9.8 years on average, 1.8 years shorter than male workers.

The average pay was 117 million won (US$110,523), up 10 million won from a year ago. Females were paid 88 million won on average, which compared to the male average of 127 million won.

Including overseas employees, the Samsung workforce rose to about 300,000 last year globally. A total of 63 companies, including the latest Harman International, were affiliated with the Korean tech giant as of December.
