[THE INVESTOR] State-owned Korea Electric Power Corp. has appointed former Siemens Korea President and CEO Kim Jong-kap as its new head, the company said on April 11.
The appointment was approved at its shareholders meeting on April 10. After President Moon Jae-in ratifies the decision the 67-year old will lead KEPCO for the next three years. Industry watchers expect Kim to focus on shifting to renewable energy and reducing operating losses.

Kim served as CEO of Hynix Semiconductor -- now SK hynix -- from 2007 to 2010 during which he led its restructuring. Before that, he served as vice minister of the industry and trade ministry and as head of the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
