[THE INVESTOR] A total of 26 multinational drug companies donated a combined 25.9 billion won (US$24 million) in Korea in 2017, industry data showed on April 24.
According to the data by the Korea Research-based Pharma Industry Association, 26 of its 41 member companies made the donations to the society last year, up 5 percent from a year earlier.
The 2017 amount accounts for 0.48 percent of their total revenues, data showed. The comparable ratio came to 0.47 percent in 2016.
“We will help the Korean society develop meaningfully through various kinds of corporate social responsibility activities,” the association said in a press release.
The donation includes money donated to various charities, as well as goods and merchandise used during corporate social responsibility activities, it said.
