[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on May 8 it topped the US home appliances market for the 8th consecutive quarter in the January-March period this year.

Citing the data compiled by industry tracker Traqline, Samsung said it accounted for 19.6 percent of the US market for home appliances products in the first quarter, rising 19.2 percent on-year.

The Korean tech giant said its washers also accounted for 20.5 percent of the market in the first three months of 2018.

The company said its performance in the washer segment came as it started the operation of a US-based production line, paving the way for a stable supply of washers for consumers.

Samsung also said it took up 22.3 percent of the refrigerator market in the first quarter on the back of premium models. The company accounted for 30.4 percent of the French-door refrigerator segment, standing as the leading player for the 35th consecutive quarter.
