[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor released the high-performance Veloster N hatchback in Korea on June 20, which is the first automobile to be released at home with the distinct “N” badge.

The Veloster N is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers an impressive 275 horsepower and 36 kilogram-force meter of torque. The power is sent to the wheel via a sports-tuned six-speed manual transmission customized for high-performance, the company said. The three-door hatchback also comes standard with launch controls, rev matching and electronic controlled suspension.

Hyundai said the new car stands out from others in terms of cornering, fun driving and full-fledged race track capability.

The auto giant earlier launched the “N” brand under the motto “Fun to Drive,” claiming that it will offer drivers a truly enjoyable driving experience along with top-notch features.

The firm released the first N vehicle, the i30 N hatchback, in Europe and Australia last year.

The price tag on the latest vehicles stands at 29.65 million won (US$26,767).

Hyundai said it sold some 500 units of the Veloster N in six days after starting preorders on June 11.
