[THE INVESTOR] More than half of the customers who purchased Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 9 through preorders picked the top end 512 gigabyte edition over the 128GB version in Korea, industry data showed on Aug. 21.

Korean mobile carriers started handing out the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone to preorder buyers on Aug. 21 ahead of the official release slated for Aug. 24.

Despite the relatively high price of 1.35 million won (US$1,208), Korea’s top mobile carrier SK Telecom said users mostly preferred to buy the 512GB version, whose storage capacity can be extended to a whopping 1 terabyte via micro SD.

Blue was the most popular color among customers, it added.

The price tag on the 128GB stands at 1.09 million won.

The Galaxy Note 9 comes with a stylus supporting Bluetooth technology, which enables users to take photos from a distance. It also comes with a battery capacity of 4,000mAh.

Local mobile carriers said preorders of the Galaxy Note 9 were above the Galaxy S9 released in March, although they fell behind the predecessor Galaxy Note 8 unveiled in 2017.
