[THE INVESTOR] Although data is considered an important source for value creation, not many companies can effectively utilize data sets in their business operations because they lack resources to deploy analytics technology or expertise in the field.

In a bid to tackle such problems, IT solutions firm SK Holdings C&C developed a platform to help analyze data and extract valuable information for customers several years ago. The firm announced some use cases of the platform, including an artificial intelligence-based real estate contract assistant, and solutions to prevent antibiotics overuse, at the Digital Native Accelerator 2018 event, held in Seoul on Aug. 29.

“Now semiconductors are the main economic locomotive in Korea, but it will be data that will drive the economy in the coming years,” said Lee Ki-yeol, head of SK Holdings C&C’s digital and finance business division, at the conference.

Showing confidence in the firm’s platform, which embraces AI, big data analytics and blockchain, he said the company’s competitors are not limited to local system integrated firms, such as Samsung SDS or LG CNS, but also global firms like Amazon, which offers tools and services to develop AI and big data applications on the web.

The AI-powered real estate contract service, developed in partnership with law firm Hankyul, analyzes registration documents for houses and buildings and shows what property buyers should know before signing contracts.

Partnering with Korea University Medical Center, the IT solutions firm has developed an antibiotics overuse prevention solution, which recommends patients about the right amount of drugs, and informs them of correct use and possible side effects.

For companies that are interested in using cryptocurrencies in operations, SK has made it available for corporate customers to issue and manage digital coins on the platform. It is conducting a beta test of its own digital coins that can be traded with actual goods and services in real life.

Other services currently running on the platform include AI-based chatbots, facial recognition solutions, are health care data analytic solutions.

Among the prominent partners of the IT solutions developer is PUBG, developer of the popular online multiplayer battle royale game “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.”

The PC version of the blockbuster hit is available on SK C&C’s could platform Could Z.
