Facebook names ex-Line exec as new Korean chief

[THE INVESTOR] Facebook on Nov. 26 announced it has appointed Jung Ki-hyun as the new chief to helm the Korean unit of the world’s largest social network platform. 

Jung, who comes with more than 15 years of business expertise, will oversee the operations of the local office, helping companies utilize the social platform to grow and expand in the local and overseas markets, the company said. 




Most recently, Jung served as the chief business officer of Line, Japanese mobile messenger subsidiary under Naver, for three years, where he lead exponential growth of B2B and advertisement business. Previously, he worked as the chief product officer at SK Planet, the e-commerce subsidiary of SK Group, for three years. Before that, he served as the head of international product management at Google.

Jung will assume the post starting January 2019, replacing Cho Yong-bum, Facebook Korea’s first country director who was promoted as regional director of the Southeast and South Asia in October.
