South Korean shares ended higher on April 4 as investors grew optimistic about a US-China trade deal. The won fell against the dollar.
The benchmark Kospi rose 3.26 points, or 0.15 percent, to close at 2,206.53. Trading volume was moderate at 425.46 million shares worth 4.73 trillion won ($4.2 billion), with gainers outnumbering losers 429 to 370.
Foreigners and institutions bought a combined 382.58 billion won worth of stocks, offsetting individuals‘ stock selling worth 379.56 billion won.
The local currency traded at 1,136.30 won against the US dollar, down 2.00 won from the previous day’s close.
