Samsung Electronics has announced the lineup of keynote speakers for Samsung Developer Conference 2019, scheduled for Oct. 20-29 in San Jose, California.
Last year, Samsung gave the world a glimpse of what its foldable smartphone would look like. This year, the company plans to walk through the progress it has made in different areas, including artificial intelligence, next-generation networks and blockchain.
Samsung’s mobile chief, Koh Dong-jin, said his speech would highlight the importance of open collaboration to achieve innovation.
“There has never been a more exciting time to pioneer the next generation of mobile experiences -- but it will require open collaboration with partners who also believe in the possibilities of boundless innovation,” wrote Koh in a press release. “We look forward to working with the developer community to re-imagine the way we experience the world and to continue pushing the limits of today’s technology together.”
Among those who will take the stage on the first day are Chung Eui-suk, Samsung’s head of software and AI; and Larry Heck, CEO of Viv Labs, the company behind the tech giant’s AI assistant solution Bixby.
Chung will share updates on the upcoming version of Bixby as well as Bixby Marketplace, where users can browse and add various services to the Bixby platform.
Sang Kim, vice president of Samsung’s visual display unit, will touch upon new tools that developers can use to create business opportunities in the smart TV segment; while Kim Yoon-jin, a Samsung research engineer, will discuss how the next-generation network 6G will shape the future and the tech giant’s strategies to lead the way.
On the second day of the event, Taher Behbehani, head of the firm’s mobile B2B unit in the US, will talk about opportunities for software developers and entrepreneurs to partner with the tech giant. Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, will talk about the challenges he faced in building his open-source distributed computing platform and share advice for developers.
