Posco Future M's "Industry Mover" title from S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (Posco Future M)

South Korean battery materials producer Posco Future M said Wednesday that it has won the “Industry Mover” title from the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) in recognition of its outstanding environmental, social, and governance efforts.

The Korean firm earned 69 points in the annual sustainability assessment, a 33 percent jump from a year ago.

Out of over 9,400 companies across 62 industries worldwide, only 41 companies, including Posco Future M, were selected as “Industry Movers.” The recognition highlights the company's commitment to sustainable business practices, including carbon emissions reduction, supply chain management, and compliance efforts.

Posco Future M also newly joined the Sustainability Yearbook Member of S&P Global and DJSI Asia Pacific index of 2023 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, another key indicator of its transparent ESG management, the company said.

With goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the company has expanded greenhouse gas management indicators from current scope 1 and 2 emissions to cover scope 3 emissions which are indirectly affecting its value chain outside the company.

Adding to that, the company said it is securing raw materials for its key products, including anodes and cathodes for batteries, from responsibly mined minerals that are certified to be free of human rights violations.
