[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics is seeking to apply a gradient color to its upcoming Galaxy A9 Pro smartphone, industry sources said on Sept. 30.

According to the sources, Samsung will showcase the Galaxy A9 Pro in Malaysia next month, and it will come not only in black but also in gradient color options.

 

Huawei Technologies' P20

Industry watchers said Samsung is expected to apply the new color scheme on various models other than the Galaxy A9 Pro down the road, mainly targeting the Chinese market. The company is anticipated to introduce more smartphones with new colors this year.

Chinese companies recently have been releasing smartphones with gradient colors, such as Huawei Technologies' P20, which has gained popularity.

The South Korean tech giant is also rumored to apply gradient or other distinctive colors for the presumed Galaxy S10 which will be launched in 2018. Samsung earlier applied emerald green for the Galaxy S6, which stood out from popular black or blue colored devices.
