Second-quarter profit jumps 47% as sales surge across US, China and Europe
Samyang Foods has reported 770.3 billion won ($545.8 million) in second quarter sales, up 39.3 percent from the same period last year, on the back of strong overseas demand.
According to the Korean instant noodle maker, it logged 176.2 billion won in operating profit during the period, which is 46.7 percent more than the April-to-June figure recorded in 2025.
Overseas sales were the main driver of the company's growth, reaching a record 645.8 billion won, up 46.7 percent from a year earlier. It is the first time the firm's quarterly overseas sales have surpassed 600 billion won.
Samyang Foods attributed the growth to improvements in its overseas distribution network and greater efficiency at its domestic production facilities, including its Miryang plant in South Gyeongsang Province.
Its flagship spicy noodle brand Buldak surpassed 10 billion units in cumulative sales at the end of May, further proving its global demand.
Revenue from North and Central America rose 54 percent year-on-year to 203.6 billion won on surging demand for Buldak products.
Revenue in China increased 44 percent to 181 billion won as the company broadened its sales base into various channels including snack-focused outlets.
Europe recorded the fastest growth among the company's major overseas markets. Sales in Europe jumped 61 percent to 80.6 billion won, driven by strong sales in countries including Germany and France.
Posting an operating margin of 23 percent in the second quarter, Samyang Foods maintained strong profitability despite challenging business environments with uncertainties surrounding exports and difficulties in securing raw materials and other supplies. It marked the firm's sixth consecutive quarter with an operating margin above 20 percent.
The company said the improvement in profitability was achieved due to a better channel mix resulting from the advancement of its overseas sales network, greater production efficiency and favorable foreign exchange rates.
"Despite global economic uncertainties, we achieved solid earnings by further strengthening our growth structure centered on our overseas business," a Samyang Foods official said.
"We will continue to support global demand and sustain growth by bolstering the roles of our overseas subsidiaries and our domestic and overseas production infrastructure."
