Global asset manager Franklin Templeton said Tuesday that it had appointed Kim In-keun president and CEO of its Korean operations.
Kim will lead Franklin Templeton Investment Advisors Korea, overseeing its strategy and operations. He will work with the local team and Asia-Pacific leadership to expand the business and strengthen client services.
Kim joins after six years at Western Asset Management’s Singapore office. He has more than 27 years of experience in asset management, with a focus on institutional clients including public-sector investors, pension funds, insurers and major financial institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
He previously held positions at BlackRock and the Bank of Korea.
“Korea is a strategically important market for Franklin Templeton and a core pillar of our Asia-Pacific business,” said Daniel Gamba, co-president and chief commercial officer at Franklin Templeton.
Gamba described Korea as one of Asia’s largest and most advanced investment markets, with major institutional investors and a growing wealth management sector. Kim’s leadership and business development experience will help strengthen the firm’s presence in the country, he added.
Kim said he would build on Franklin Templeton’s existing foundation in Korea and draw on its global investment capabilities to help local clients meet their investment goals.
